Product Description

With loads of surface area up front, and a more tapered outline in the tail, the Modern Love Child Poly Mid-length surfboard is a versatile cruiser that is sure to double your wave count. This board paddles exceptionally well, has plenty of turning ability off the tail, and will adapt as the conditions, and your approach changes.

OUTLINE: The longboard outline up front creates a huge stable zone under the front foot and chest, which is great for catching waves early and riding forward towards the nose. The tapered area pintail keeps the board manoeuvrable and adds control in bigger, steeper waves.

ROCKER: The low rocker is designed to glide effortlessly into waves and maintain down-the-line speed and acceleration. The subtle lift in the tail rocker promotes smooth gliding turns on the face.

CONTOURS: Pronounced vee-double concave starts under the front foot and runs all the way out the back maintaining ample manoeuvrability on an otherwise wide, higher volume board.

FIN: Three different fin configurations offer 3 types of performance. The single and 2 + 1 set-ups deliver a free-flowing ride while promoting longer lines. The quad offers a faster ride with tighter turning capacity.

AESTHETIC: The traditional resin tints, rail laps, and gloss finish not only look striking but also guarantees that each board has its own unique appearance.

Technology

Polyester – PU

Polyester or PU construction uses traditional materials and laminating techniques to produce a strong, reliable surfboard with high quality finishes. All polyester boards are CNC milled from the shapers files and laminated by hand using quality components such as Hexcel fiberglass, Silmar resin and Bennett foam.

For years traditional polyester boards have been at the forefront of performance surfing. These boards feature a progressive flex pattern controlled by a high-grade timber stringer and feel very reliable under your feet. Polyester construction will perform in all surf conditions and can be adapted to suit a wide variety of surfboard models.

  2. 4 out of 5 Fun All-Rounder

I got the 6’8 model as a transitional board coming down from an 8’0 performance longboard. Within a year it quickly became and still is my go to board for the conditions I normally surf in (mushy northern california beachbreak). Serves me well in any waves from 2 foot to 7 foot and paddles well; it can be difficult to duckdive repeatedly, I usually turtle roll depending on how tired I am. I really enjoy it as a quad, it can be very loose if you shift your feet back in front of the fins, and it’s stable enough that I can still sneak in cheater fives every now and then. As far as its maneuverability, I’ve been able to do small carving turns, snaps, re-entries, whitewater climbs, and pump down the line. I had more trouble doing these on the stock single fin,and have yet to try it as a 2+1. My one concern is the durability of the board, as I have had to repair it quite a few times, including a nasty incident where the fin box came out and was partially dislodged and another time when the metal bar in the leash plug came loose. ——More Info—— Height: 5’5 Weight: 155 lbs Age: 22 Fitness: Average Experience: 5 years (surfing once a week at most) Where I surf: Linda Mar, Bolinas, Pleasure Point, Carmel —–Pros/Cons—— Pros: versatile, paddle power, stable/forgiving, user-friendly Cons: hard to duck dive, construction/durability

  3. 5 out of 5 Best board

I have a 7/6 love child and it rips want to purchase a 6/4 as soon as the wife is not looking.I have always rode it as a quad and as long as your on the rail and cranking the tail it flies.I’ve made several sections on this board that I would have bet I’d never make.I have no hesitation to claiming it as one of the best boards I’ve ever owned. One downside I wish I’d got one sooner

  4. 5 out of 5 6'0 and 7'0

I picked up both the 6 and 7 foot models. I’ve surfed both from knee high windswell to our recent tropical storm swell, head+. I may never ride a different board model again, love them both and saving to get the other three sizes. Price is great and the quality is fantastic too.

  5. Question

    Hey ,
I’m 86kg and wanted a 6’4″ Lovechild but I see the rating suggests I’m too heavy.
    Which should l get I don’t wanna 7′ that’s what I’ve already come from.

    Thanks,
    Glenn

  6. 5 out of 5 Love this board!!!

The guys in the board shop raved about the love child, after riding it for the first time I completely see why. I had the most fun surf session ever! The volume and width up top gives so much extra paddle power that you glide into waves, but the narrow tail instantly turns the board into a manouverable and fun board. There are a lot of boards out there that claim this combo but this one really maximises on both qualities. So stoked to get out there for second rip up!

  8. 5 out of 5 7'6" Love Child

Great board for weaker summer slop in dirty jerzee. Quad set up is sweet.

  9. 5 out of 5 7'6" Love Child

I LOVE this board! It does everything it says. The set up makes it easy to catch waves and the narrow tail make it fast and very easy to turn. I have been surfing about 6 months and this was the perfect transition for me. The rocker makes the board almost pearl proof. The only knock is that I have put a few dents in the top from pop ups.

  10. 5 out of 5 6'8" Lovechild

purchased a 6’8″ Lovechild as a Xmas gift to myself. love the board, easy to paddle & get into waves, very fast, easy to turn. what I like most about this board is the fin set up-single, thruster, quad-all are options. I’ve been riding it as a quad. like it so much that I also purchased a 7’6″ as my long board for small days. Thanks to Tony Butler for helping me with my puchases-seamless service!

  11. 5 out of 5 Feeling the Love.

Just had my second surf on this board and it’s official – I LOVE the Love Child! From the paddling to the overall
responsiveness; I couldn’t have hoped for better. I bought the 6 footer and rode it with a 2+1 fin setup in 1-3 foot
shories in Newcastle (Australia) and it performed brilliantly, plenty of speed on the open face and excellent rail to
rail transitions. The perfect allrounder. Can’t wait to try it with the quad setup and in bigger waves. Great work guys!
