Product Description

The Modern Blackfish surfboard combines usability and performance in a contemporary fish shape.

OUTLINE: Contemporary fish shape with the wide point shifted forward to assist with paddle efficiency. The tail narrows in the last 24 inches adding control and bite in steeper sections.

CONTOURS: The subtle single-to-double concave bottom feels very reliable and offers quick response in a variety of conditions.

ROCKER: The smooth well-balanced rocker is designed to get you into waves early, accelerate fast off the bottom, and then maintain speed as you transition from one turn into the next.

FOIL: The Blackfish has plenty of volume under the chest and through the mid zone creating stability and making this board very easy to paddle and ride. The domed deck leads out to performance rails that heighten sensitivity when turning.

AESTHETIC: The traditional resin tints, rail laps, and gloss finish not only look striking but also guarantees that each board has its own unique appearance.

The Modern Blackfish is very reliable and versatile enough to use everyday or on your next surfing adventure.

Technical Info

Polyester – PU Construction

Polyester or PU construction uses traditional materials and laminating techniques to produce a strong, reliable surfboard with high quality finishes. All polyester boards are CNC milled from the shapers files and laminated by hand using quality components such as Hexcel fiberglass, Silmar resin and Bennett foam.

For years traditional polyester boards have been at the forefront of performance surfing. These boards feature a progressive flex pattern controlled by a high-grade timber stringer and feel very reliable under your feet. Polyester construction will perform in all surf conditions and can be adapted to suit a wide variety of surfboard models.

  1. 5 out of 5

It was time for my 12yr old to move on from a big soft top and onto the next level board. Tony B., Customer Service Manager at GSI, talked to me about what board would be a good fit for her. Tony nailed it, the move was seamless. My daughter is very happy with the board. Therefore, i am too. Thanks Tony.

  2. 5 out of 5 Great Board

Bought this board to fill out my quiver and get through a California summer. For the price, it’s a really awesome board. The volume in the nose means it paddles like a dream – I find myself catching pretty much everything I paddle for so no more frustrating sessions on small crumbly days. This is a great transitional board for intermediate surfers – I have a 6’6″ short board that I feel is fine for me, but the 6’0″ fish is a much better fit, even with my limited skills. The finish (at least the hot pink) is really bright and beautiful and never fails to get compliments in the line up, and no one believes me when I tell them i bought it here.

  3. 5 out of 5

I bought this for my daughter last summer as a transition board from a larger fun shape. I actually took it with us to North Carolina this summer and ended up riding it more than my own board. we had fast hollow conditions last week. this board is fast and easy to paddle. Turns very well. Very pleased. may have to take all the Pink girly stickers off of it and stick it in my own board bag from now on…..
