Product Description

For 2017 we’re introducing the Walden Mega Magic 2, a new updated version of the Mega Magic… The Mega Magic has become one of best selling Walden surfboard designs ever, it shares the design aspects of the Magic Model but with added volume. This board has become so popular because its increased volume allows a rider to move to a shorter board while maintaining stability and float, yet it still manoeuvres with all the performance of the Original Magic Model.

Volume is taken from the length and redistributed to the width and thickness which provides excellent float and stability while still maintaining the famous Magic Model performance.  The Mega is about 1/2-1″ thicker and 1-2″ wider than a standard Magic Model. The Mega Magic will float like a board that is 12-18″ longer. For the bigger guy that normally rides a 10’0, with the Mega he can ride a 9’0 without giving up float or stability.

The Mega Magic 2 nose has been slightly pulled in – still excellent for nose riding, but the narrower nose will also perform better for more top to bottom riding.  We took out the step deck for a smoother transition from deck to rail creating a thinner rail for more sensitivity, feel and control.

We Introduced FCSII fin boxes to the whole line up, snap in fins allow more versatility of fin selection on the fly.

42 year old male, 6’6″ 225 lbs. I’ve been surfing for 18 years, but I had to take off a year and a half. Getting back in shape has been difficult. I’m riding the 7’2″ and its a great board! I’m in San Diego so the waves are generally small and mushy but it works great down here. I’m very happy with the board shape and construction. Honestly its hard to try to downsize to what I was riding before because its such a cheater board. I can sit slightly inside the real longboarders and outside the shortboarders. Now if I can just find a used mini mega magic….

Got back in the lineup after 35 yrs. I used to have a quiver that included everything from a 5’5″ box fix, 6’6 pintail, 8ft foamie, to 9’6″ long board. This is just what I needed. The big volume lets me paddle out without exhausting myself and also gets me on most waves I try for. The 8ft I bought turns very well with a swept back tail and hard rails. When I make the drop, the tail allows for a hard bottom turn. Very responsive. The foil is big in the mid section where it’s buoyancy keeps me moving when the waves stalls for a moment. I may not be as in shape or agile as I was as a teenager, but this board is forgiving and allows me plenty of room for advancement. I caught as many waves in 1-2ft as I did in 4-5ft. Awesome! Here’s a photo of me catching one of the first waves in 35 yrs and my first session with the MegaMagic.

I have been riding a Mega Magic 9’6″ for several years now, and in 53 years of surfing I can honestly say I have enjoyed it more than any other board I have ever ridden. However there were times I wished it was a little bit smaller. About a month ago I bought a 9’6″ Mega Magic 2 thinking it might be the board I had occasionally wished the old one was.The Mega Magic 2 is all I hoped it might be. It is feels lighter, faster and is easier to control in strong winds. You have managed to put more magic into a slightly smaller package and I thank you for doing so.
